What is Malaysian Tax Identification Number (TIN ) ?

Think of the TIN as your IC Number , but for tax purposes as well as other financial related purposes such as opening bank accounts and investment accounts with investment companies such as IBKR.

You can get your Tax Identification Number by going through these steps

1. Go to https://mytax.hasil.gov.my/

This is the main government website related to any tax issues and processes that you should bookmark for easy access.

2. Choose “No. Kad Pengenalan” (Identification Card Number)

Enter your IC number. Then click “Hantar”

3. You will be met with a screen like this. Choose e-CP55D

This screen appears if you do not have a digital certificate for your TIN. Choose the e-CP55D option that will allow you to make an online request via email for your TIN

4. Enter your details and BOOM you’re done.
